Lorraine both hates and loves quack grass. She hates having it in the gardens and fields but look how happy she is while digging it out!

Summer vacation!

Well, Jean is thrilled that it is summer vacation because the work crew is back to getting the farm work done. Today these kids weeded the entire onion field. Very good work. Beautiful.

Farmwork – May 2009

Vegetable transplants heading out to the field where they will become rooted, harvest the sun and rain and grow the most delicious tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini and eggplant. Happy anniversary Al and Jean!

Well, today was our 31 st wedding anniversary. We both live together and work together and still both voted to continue our good marriage. As a great gift to Jean,  Al went out and planted a 2 acre soybean food plot for the resident deer herd. This will be sweet yummy food for the deer and [...]

Al plants popcorn. We grow the best popcorn! It is available in our roadstand. Stop in and you can go home with gorgeous flowers and some yummy home grown popcorn.

Jean planting broom corn

A self portrait of Jean who is  happy the broom corn is planted in neat rows behind her tractor.

Al and Jean each got on a tractor and using a John Deere corn planter, with the appropriate seed plates, put lots of seeds into the soil. We planted popcorn, ornamental corn, broom corn, green beans and yellow beans.  This is good!
